Differentiated Instruction is a proactive set of strategies to adjust teaching and learning by systematically modifying content, process, and products according to student readiness, interests, and learning style. Instruction is based on the student's instructional level, the size of the task, and the pace of the instruction. These are varied and adjusted to form an instructional match for the student based on continuous formal and informal assessment.

MAP tests measure a student's instructional level, providing useful information about where a student is learning. MAP focuses on identifying the area of learning where a student can make the greatest academic growth with appropriate differentiated instruction regardless of age or grade level. Because the tests align to the content and structure of state standards, the information teachers receive directly relates to the classroom experience.
